Observation hypothesis
Paranoia may be the search for continuity inside a discontinuous world. If states can switch, something must have caused the switch.
パラノイアは、不連続な世界の内側で連続を探すことでありうる。状態が切り替わるなら、その切り替えには原因がなければならない、と感じられる。
The more a world is imagined as composed of clear states — normal / abnormal, innocent / guilty, inside / outside — the more an invisible cause may be sought in the gap.
Conspiracy, hidden systems, surveillance, serial killers, secret organizations, invisible networks, unseen forces, double lives: these are not one culture's exclusive property. They are narrative tools for stitching a switch back into a story.
If the world can suddenly switch states, what caused the switch?
A gradient world may absorb rupture as weather. A switch world may demand an author.
世界が明確な状態——normal / abnormal、innocent / guilty、inside / outside——で構成されていると想像されるほど、その隙間に見えない原因を探したくなることがある。
陰謀、隠されたシステム、監視、連続殺人、秘密組織、不可視のネットワーク、見えない力、二重生活。これらは一文化の専有物ではない。スイッチを物語へ縫い戻すための装置である。
世界が突然状態を切り替えられるなら、何がスイッチを引き起こしたのか。
勾配の世界は断裂を天候として吸収しうる。スイッチの世界は、作者を要求しうる。
